Towards assessment and optimisation of solar plants across the globe

George Kitoudis counts over 20 years of expertise in energy and environmental engineering as a systems designer, site supervisor and project manager. He experienced during his career a great number of areas such as solar heating and cooling, air ventilation as well as small solar thermal after which he started to work in the solar electric sector in the domains of production planning optimisation, warehouse management as well as logistics. Mr. Kitoudis joined The meeco Group team in 2008 as Head of Site Implementation & Operations and director of meeco’s Greek subsidiary, meeco Services Hellas S.A. Having now worked well over 10 years in the solar industry, George helps meeco on a global scale and daily to realise its mission towards clean energy and resource efficiency by overseeing the proper operation of multiple global renewable energy systems. Through this interview, given right after his recent business trip to meeco’s subsidiary in Pakistan to supervise the installation of a sun2roof system for a key industrial customer, George shares with us the global dimension of his responsibilities, as well as the opportunities and the challenges encountered.

Photovoltaic rooftop implemented by meeco for Mustaqim Dyeing & Printing

Karachi, Pakistan. On April 15th, Mustaqim Dyeing & Printing Pvt Ltd. and The meeco Group completed successfully phase one of a photovoltaic rooftop installation, which provides initially up to 20 kWp of clean electrical energy. The sun2roof system is a grid-tied rooftop installation with 280 German thin-film modules and Power One inverters (ABB). The meeco Group, through its local joint venture oursun Solar Power Ltd., was in charge of design, layout, engineering, planning, procurement, shipment and installation of the system.

The first container of these advanced technology modules is expected to arrive in Paraguay this week. Given their exceptional price-performance ratio, meeco América Latina is aiming to sell 150 kWp of CIS modules as part of off-grid systems until the end of the year.

The meeco Group has presented new solar innovations at major Paraguayan fair

Zug/Loma Plata. From August 11th to 18th, the Asunción-based subsidiary of the Swiss meeco Group, meeco América Latina S.A. participated at the 39th edition of Expo Rodeo Trébol, the second largest stockbreeding fair in Paraguay. At the trade show, which took place in Loma Plata, Chaco region, exhibitors presented new technologies for the further development of food production in Paraguay, including this year’s meeco solar energy innovations for the agricultural sector.
