The Swiss-headquartered renewable energy generation and energy storage company The meeco Group has just launched its latest solar PV mounting solution. The sun2rope system offers a totally flexible and innovative way to build a solar energy system without the application of obstructing substructures harming the environment. Clean energy model sun2share presented to promote green tourism in Africa

From 7th to 10th of December 2018, the Global Sustainable Tourism Conference 2018 took place in Maun, Botswana. The event brought together 150 delegates from 26 countries involved in the development and promotion of sustainable tourism. Among representatives of the public sector, the tourism industry, NGOs and development agencies, meeco with its CEO Mr. Sebastian Bovensiepen and SADC manager Botswana Mr. Robert Hanna attended the conference. The main topic addressed during the annual conference was the acceleration of sustainable tourism to meet the industries green house gases reduction targets.

Two entirely different areas, one solar provider: Bethesda on the Caribbean island Antigua and a textile company in Leutkirch located in the South of Germany as of now benefit from clean solar power. Shortly before the end of 2018, the Swiss-based clean energy provider The meeco Group successfully managed the same-day commissioning of a ground-mounted 4 MWp sun2live solar utility and a roof-mounted sun2roof solar power plant with a total size of 440 kWp. While the Caribbean commissioning team worked at moist conditions with up to 30 degrees and 70 per cent humidity, the German commissioning staff had to deal with heavy snow and icy flat roofs.

meeco brings sun2rope and sun2safe solar energy systems to a 1920’s Safari Camp

The establishment of a reliable electricity supply represents an enormous challenge for off-grid tourist destinations in Africa such as remote Safari lodges. Located in the Olderkesi Wildlife Conservancy in Masai Mara, Kenya, a famous 1920’s Safari camp is currently nearly exclusively powered by energy produced from diesel gensets due to a missing connection to the electrical grid. In order to reduce the dependence on these cost-extensive and polluting energy sources, meeco will install a 50 kWp sun2rope mounted solar energy solution in combination with a sun2safe energy management system at the isolated and exclusive Safari lodge.

Today the ninth-graders from the Hosororo Primary School from the sparsely populated Mabaruma region in the north of Guyana have visited the construction site of our 400 kWp sun2live solar energy plant.
