Photovoltaic rooftop implemented by meeco for Mustaqim Dyeing & Printing

Karachi, Pakistan. On April 15th, Mustaqim Dyeing & Printing Pvt Ltd. and The meeco Group completed successfully phase one of a photovoltaic rooftop installation, which provides initially up to 20 kWp of clean electrical energy. The sun2roof system is a grid-tied rooftop installation with 280 German thin-film modules and Power One inverters (ABB). The meeco Group, through its local joint venture oursun Solar Power Ltd., was in charge of design, layout, engineering, planning, procurement, shipment and installation of the system.

Founded in 1994, Mustaqim is a growing textile mills company and forms part of the Gatron / Krystalite Group, one of the leading industrial conglomerates in Pakistan, which produces all kind of fabrics such as bed linens, table linens or curtain linens. One of its core principles is its dedication to a clean environment by using as much green technologies as possible. Mustaqim was for instance the first manufacturing plant in Karachi to have a fully operational waste water treatment plant. Morover, Mustaqim has a long history of using energy savings materials and processes as well as recycling their materials and byproducts.

Amer Ashfaq, Director of oursun Solar Power Ltd., who has negotiated this sun2roof project with Mustaqim explains: “This partnership is very valuable to us and we are glad that we were able to start this fruitful and promising business partnership with such a growing company on a green project that fits both of our objectives.” He adds: “We are looking forward to new common projects in the future to further increase our presence in Pakistan.”
