PV Energy provides Antiguan island with clean energy
The twin-island state Antigua and Barbuda has taken a leading role in terms of clean energy supply in the Caribbean. This leadership has now once again been strengthened through the completion of eleven sun2live and sun2roof solar installations on the small private island Jumby Bay in the north of Antigua by our UK-based renewable energy joint venture PV Energy Limited.

Antigua and Barbuda’s electricity sector has just got much closer to becoming the greenest in the whole of the Caribbean. The national target to generate 20 per cent of the required electricity from solar energy is almost tangible. Yesterday, the Government of Antigua and Barbuda together with the UK-based clean energy provider PV Energy Limited and The meeco Group has officially inaugurated the 3 MWp solar power plant at the V.C.Bird International Airport of Antigua.
Solar energy provider meeco intends to spread its green power solutions
The year 2015 has been characterized by the world’s commitment to clean energy. At least since the climate agreement at the United Nations Climate Change Conference, held in December 2015 in Paris, there is a global consent to reduce CO2 emissions and to encourage the usage of clean energy sources. The Swiss-based solar energy provider The meeco Group has supported this development through a multitude of successful solar power projects. In retrospective the meeco Group in 2015 has build on the developments of 2014 in terms of product and projects and has executed across all of its global markets a continuously growing number and vast variety of solar power and energy storage. “We could achieve all forecasted results”, assures Thomas Beindorf, Chief Technical Officer (CTO) at meeco.

Solar energy is a clean and reliable power source. But unfortunately the sun does not shine 24 hours a day and therefore access to sunlight is limited in the morning and in the evening and of course at night. In order to offset this drawback, The meeco Group – a Swiss-based clean energy provider – deployed its solar energy management solution sun2safe, a system pairing solar power with solar storage technology, guaranteeing the stability of the electricity supply and thus solving the issue coming from intermittent sunshine.
First shipment of Würth CIS modules available as from October 1st
Zug/Asunción. On October 1st, The meeco Group’s subsidiary, meeco América Latina S.A., will officially introduce the first German made CIS (Copper Gallium Selenide) photovoltaic (PV) modules in the Paraguayan market. The first container of these advanced technology modules is expected to arrive in Paraguay this week. Given their exceptional price-performance ratio, meeco América Latina is aiming to sell 150 kWp of CIS modules as part of off-grid systems until the end of the year.
The meeco Group has presented new solar innovations at major Paraguayan fair
Zug/Loma Plata. From August 11th to 18th, the Asunción-based subsidiary of the Swiss meeco Group, meeco América Latina S.A. participated at the 39th edition of Expo Rodeo Trébol, the second largest stockbreeding fair in Paraguay. At the trade show, which took place in Loma Plata, Chaco region, exhibitors presented new technologies for the further development of food production in Paraguay, including this year’s meeco solar energy innovations for the agricultural sector.
