Towards assessment and optimisation of solar plants across the globe

George Kitoudis counts over 20 years of expertise in energy and environmental engineering as a systems designer, site supervisor and project manager. He experienced during his career a great number of areas such as solar heating and cooling, air ventilation as well as small solar thermal after which he started to work in the solar electric sector in the domains of production planning optimisation, warehouse management as well as logistics. Mr. Kitoudis joined The meeco Group team in 2008 as Head of Site Implementation & Operations and director of meeco’s Greek subsidiary, meeco Services Hellas S.A. Having now worked well over 10 years in the solar industry, George helps meeco on a global scale and daily to realise its mission towards clean energy and resource efficiency by overseeing the proper operation of multiple global renewable energy systems. Through this interview, given right after his recent business trip to meeco’s subsidiary in Pakistan to supervise the installation of a sun2roof system for a key industrial customer, George shares with us the global dimension of his responsibilities, as well as the opportunities and the challenges encountered.

Further expansion of the Packages sun2roof PV installations

Back in February, oursun Solar Power Ltd, part of The meeco Group started a promising partnership with Packages Limited to bring solar renewable energy to Pakistan. oursun Solar Power Ltd. is glad to announce that a first initial but crucial part of the project has been completed. The Power Purchase Agreement contract ties the two sides initially for a total capacity of 3 MWp sun2roof installations. Last month, the first sun2roof photovoltaic installation of 65 kWp has been implemented and connected allowing Packages to get access to clean energy. From now, onwards until the 1st quarter of 2014, the roll out of the remaining sun2roof units is foreseen.

The meeco Group has recently launched through its subsidiary OurSun Energy (Private) Ltd. its turnkey services and solutions into the blossoming Zimbabwean market. Lately, promising cooperation’s have been initiated in Zimbabwe with key partners such as BDO, part of the fifth largest accountancy network in the world and ZINWA, an entity wholly owned by the Government and mandated to manage all water resources of the country. The ZIMREC conference represents for meeco a further step towards the expansion of its clean energy activities in Zimbabwe.
