The year of 2014 was very conducive to the implementation of solar energy projects. In 2014, at The meeco Group, we developed solar energy and storage projects on a global scale, through high-end PV installations, cooperation with key partners, implementation of new joint ventures and product launches.

We are a leading provider in clean energy, delivering turnkey services and solutions via our own regional offices and a great variety of strategic partners located worldwide. Since 2013, we have extended our activity to Zimbabwe through the launch of a new Joint Venture company, named oursun Energy (Private) Ltd. Thanks to the establishment of this subsidiary, we have been working successfully in Zimbabwe and discussed a substantial project pipeline with projects ranging from several kilowatts to several megawatts of solar projects via technical and advisory services.

Last week, some members of the meeco management team attended meetings with clients during a business trip in the Maldives. Several ongoing and a number of new projects have been discussed for the coming year.

The meeco Group is present in Maldives since several years, working with key strategic partners. The country represents huge opportunities for the development of the clean energy sector, especially thanks to high radiation rates throughout the year.

As already in previous years The meeco Group in 2014 once again expanded its activities in Pakistan. Through the launch of the joint venture oursun Solar Power Limited, which was established in 2013, meeco was able to finalise several new photovoltaic projects in 2014. At the end of the year, additional 7 MWp will be installed by meeco in this country, mainly in the framework of Power Purchase Agreements. Several key industrial players in Pakistan are now benefiting from the advantages of clean energy provided through high quality photovoltaic installations of The meeco Group on their roofs and premises.

Towards assessment and optimisation of solar plants across the globe

George Kitoudis counts over 20 years of expertise in energy and environmental engineering as a systems designer, site supervisor and project manager. He experienced during his career a great number of areas such as solar heating and cooling, air ventilation as well as small solar thermal after which he started to work in the solar electric sector in the domains of production planning optimisation, warehouse management as well as logistics. Mr. Kitoudis joined The meeco Group team in 2008 as Head of Site Implementation & Operations and director of meeco’s Greek subsidiary, meeco Services Hellas S.A. Having now worked well over 10 years in the solar industry, George helps meeco on a global scale and daily to realise its mission towards clean energy and resource efficiency by overseeing the proper operation of multiple global renewable energy systems. Through this interview, given right after his recent business trip to meeco’s subsidiary in Pakistan to supervise the installation of a sun2roof system for a key industrial customer, George shares with us the global dimension of his responsibilities, as well as the opportunities and the challenges encountered.

Further expansion of the Packages sun2roof PV installations

Back in February, oursun Solar Power Ltd, part of The meeco Group started a promising partnership with Packages Limited to bring solar renewable energy to Pakistan. oursun Solar Power Ltd. is glad to announce that a first initial but crucial part of the project has been completed. The Power Purchase Agreement contract ties the two sides initially for a total capacity of 3 MWp sun2roof installations. Last month, the first sun2roof photovoltaic installation of 65 kWp has been implemented and connected allowing Packages to get access to clean energy. From now, onwards until the 1st quarter of 2014, the roll out of the remaining sun2roof units is foreseen.

Zimbabwe Renewable Energy Conference in Meikles Hotel Harare

The meeco Group has recently launched through its subsidiary OurSun Energy (Private) Ltd. its turnkey services and solutions into the blossoming Zimbabwean market. Lately, promising cooperation’s have been initiated in Zimbabwe with key partners such as BDO, part of the fifth largest accountancy network in the world and ZINWA, an entity wholly owned by the Government and mandated to manage all water resources of the country. The ZIMREC conference represents for meeco a further step towards the expansion of its clean energy activities in Zimbabwe.

sun2water & sun2flow solutions for water treatment in Zimbabwe

In July 2014, a new agreement was signed between OurSun Energy (Private) Ltd, The Zimbabwean subsidiary company of The meeco Group and ZINWA, the Zimbabwe National Water Authority. This MOU will result in the establishment of a Public Private Partnership joint venture company OurSun ZINWA with a view to focus on solar-based water treatment developed by The meeco Group through its sun2water solutions.
