We expand our renewable energy endeavours in Zimbabwe. After equipping the facility of a Zimbabwean company with the so far largest solar energy plant in the country, we will now implement a further extension at the same clean energy installation and are about to execute a third PV facility with a capacity of 330 kWp.
A stable energy sector is one of the most essential requirements for successful economic development and growth. Whilst in almost all countries in Europe or North America, the energy infrastructure is well developed, many other regions of the world have to deal with severe challenges in this area. In Africa, two-thirds of the continent’s population lack access to electricity. The reason for this energy crisis consists in particular in the rising electric power consumption per capita and the increasing gap between the growth of population, which was by 2.9% annually over the last 25 years, and the grid extension rate of only 2.7% over the same period.
The meeco hot air balloon team has just experienced ten exciting days in L’aérodrome de Chambley located in Lorraine, France. Together with 1,335 pilots and more than 1,000 hot-air balloons registered for 38 nations our team has participated in “Mondial Air Ballons 2017” – the biggest and most famous hot-air balloon gathering in Europe. Despite unstable and windy weather conditions meeco’s Chief Technical Officer and enthusiastic balloonist Thomas Beindorf could undertake five excellent flights with the SunCarrier-branded hot-air balloon above the French landscape.
Our joint venture company PV Energy Limited has just completed the installation of a sun2roof solar system on the rooftop of the Central Gurdwara (Khalsa Jatha) in London. The oldest Sikh temple in Europe, located in Shepherds Bush in the Western part of London, as off now, benefits from a 10.11 kWp clean energy solution generating sustainable and environmentally friendly solar power and ensuring long-term cost savings.
During the implementation of a renewable energy project, we especially emphasise on supporting our clients at every stage of the process with our experiences and technical know-how. Regarding the installation and maintenance of inverters, we are now able to offer an even better service, as we have just become official service partner of the renowned manufacturer of tier one inverters Fronius International GmbH.
The government of Guyana, through the Guyana Energy Agency (GEA), continues with taking up the challenge of climate change by implementing environment-friendly renewable energy solutions. oursun Guyana, our local joint venture, assists the government in this endeavour. After completing successfully the 43 kWp solar rooftop installation on the State House in Georgetown in Guyana, we were contracted to equip further 57 roofs of government-owned buildings with our clean energy solution sun2roof.
Our joint venture and clean energy provider PV Energy has supported the Government of Antigua and Barbuda (GOAB) in equipping 20 residential buildings of the National Housing Project with renewable power installations. The GOAB has started the National Housing programme to provide a home for lower-income families. In order to ensure a reliable and eco-friendly energy supply, the residents will obtain their daytime electricity from photovoltaic solar modules installed on the roofs of the houses.
Located to the north of New Zealand in the midst of the South Pacific the island state Fiji has to face the severe consequences of climate change. Rising sea levels and extreme weather conditions represent a big challenge for the country comprising of 330 small islands. Currently, the country’s energy supply is mainly based on polluting fossil fuels. The dependence on oil imports causes high costs and makes Fiji vulnerable to the fluctuations of the global oil market burdening the federal budget heavily. Aiming to actively contribute to reducing the country’s dependence on fossil fuels, we have founded the local joint venture oursun Pacific Limited together with a local investment entity.
To expand our worldwide business activities, we have recently created a new company division: meeco Industrial Climbing Services. With headquarters in Germany, meeco Industrial Services GmbH broadens our branch portfolio. By combining the experience of our energy and financial experts with the professional skills of industrial climbing, the new company division is able to realise a broad range of projects at high levels and difficult to access locations worldwide.
The Armenian energy sector is about to change towards a strengthening of renewable energy resources away from today’s dependence on imported fossil fuels. The Armenian government has adopted several laws facilitating the development of clean energy projects and established the non-governmental Renewable Resources and Energy Efficiency Fund (R2E2) to promote renewable energy in Armenia.
