meeco Services Hellas finalizes a new grid-connected PV project in Oropos

Zug/Athens. meeco Services Hellas S.A., the fully-owned Greek subsidiary of the Swiss-based meeco Group has finalized yet another ground-mounted photovoltaic (PV) project. This turnkey PV installation is located in Oropos, a town situated in the municipality of East Attica, 50 km north of Athens. The grid-connected project is split into four projects of 100 kWp nominal power capacity each.

Finalized in the second quarter of 2013 in association with its main subcontractor Hellenic Advanced Building (HAB), the project further reinforces the presence of The meeco Group in the Greek solar PV market by exceeding the recently and newly installed capacity of 3430 kWp. Connected to the national grid, the installation utilizes 240 Wp polycrystalline BYD modules, Kaco Powador 39.0 TL3-XL-INT inverters and a fixed supporting structure by Solarcube. The 400 kWp of installed capacity are expected to generate 580,000 kWh per year, which will result in saving approximately 342,200 kg of CO2 per year.

This ground-mounted solar installation which is connected to the national electricity grid, benefits from a Feed-in Tariff of € 42 cents per kWh. Part of a 20-year policy, this tariff enables local job creation not only in the installation phase but also during the entire lifetime of the system. ‘Achieving an additional 400 kWp despite the current economical and political circumstances proves that the Greek PV market is still active,’ comments George Kitoudis, Technical and Operations Manager of meeco Services Hellas. ‘Working with local partners such as HAB is obviously a necessary condition to support the market,’ adds Kitoudis.
