The meeco Group to install 31 kWp building-integrated photovoltaic skylight for INDITEX Group member
Zug/Valencia. On August 9th 2013, The Swiss-based meeco Group has been chosen by the Spanish Architecture Bureau Sach Consulting & Services to install a building-integrated photovoltaic (BIPV) skylight installation for the new Bershka store in Valencia. The Spanish fashion retailer Bershka, member of the INDITEX Group, will invest three million euros to set up their Valencia store in the former Economy Council building. The redevelopment of the building via a series of technical improvements, energy saving measures and the implementation of alternative energy technology will grant the building the LEED Gold certification for green buildings. The grand opening of the store is currently planned for the first week of December and will generate 70 jobs.
As the general contractor in charge of delivering the turnkey PV installation, The meeco Group, expects to kick-off the project on November 11th 2013. The PV supporting structure as well as the mechanical and electrical works will be made in Spain and installed by the Valencia-based PV substructure expert, Axial Solar. In addition, SMA Tripower inverters have been selected for the project along with Si-Poly Translucent PV modules by VidurSolar tailor made in Barcelona. The 31 kWp BIPV skylight is expected to produce a minimum energy output of 47,506 kWh per year, which will represent yearly savings of more than 11.31 tons of CO2 emissions.
‘We have carefully selected the components for this project, favoring the excellence of Spanish PV products, in order to deliver a long-term quality project for a world-known entity such as INDITEX’ declares Dieter Trutschler, Sales Director of The meeco Group. ‘We are also very privileged to be working with an architectonic specialist for the retail sector such as the Sach Architecture Bureau and hope to reiterate such collaborations with additional solar projects in the future’, comments Eric Borremans, International Sales Manager of The meeco Group.
