The sun2roof® system for a sustainable and environmentally friendly beer

The Tucher private brewery, located on the Nuremberg/Fürth city border, is not only proud of its centuries-old brewing tradition, but also of its strong commitment to sustainability and environmental protection. At Tucher, they firmly believe that good beer and responsible action can go hand in hand. They are convinced that sustainability is an ongoing process and are constantly working to minimize our environmental impact. Their mission is to brew good beers while taking into account the needs of the environment and future generations, ensuring sustainability in every step.

At Tucher, they already supply their buildings with heat and electricity by recovering the primary energy used in the production process, which is part of their sustainability efforts. As part of the recent project to expand production and storage space at the Fürth site, the company also decided to invest in renewable energy as a further step towards sustainability. The meeco Group developed, engineered, and implemented a specific sun2roof® system for Tucher to be installed on the roof of the new brewery warehouses, reinforcing their sustainability strategy.

Green energy and sustainability with sun2roof® system operating in less than 5 weeks

From the first layouts of the project, made at the end of February 2024, to its actual implementation, only a few months have passed, fully meeting the customer’s urgent request to have the PV system up and running in the shortest time possible. In fact, from receiving the effective order to completing the project, it took meeco less than 5 weeks from start to finish. Built on a 580 sqm area, this sun2roof® PV solution of 124.5 kWp, consisting of 300 top-tier 415W solar modules, is a major milestone in Tucher’s sustainability journey. Finalized and commissioned in July 2024, with high efficiency, the estimated annual energy production of 122 MW will save yearly 36,566 tons of polluting CO2 emissions, further enhancing the brewery’s sustainability efforts.
